1:Getting ready to learn
The first class STUDY SKILLS UED102 On 25 July 2018 at Al-Farabi hall.Each topic in this subject was handled by a different lecturer.The first lecturer handled this topic is Madam Siti Fadhilah Bt.Abdul Hamid .
From this topic i learnt about differences between school and collage academics. This is a few differences between school and college :
More group assignments with meeting outside the class
Less time in class
More time studying outside of the class
More reading
Fewer tests
Class time is not fixed
The charateristics of successful student is:
- Do not stay praying
- Respectful lecturer
- Send early assignment
- Form study group with friends
- Attend all classes
- Work hard all semester
- Have goals
- Punctual and time-wise
Learning styles:

visual learners:
- Practice building your visual memory.
- Rewrite your notes using different colors.
- Creat mind maps,flowcharts,and diagrams using bright colors.Put them where you can view them frequently.
Auditory learners:
- After you read a page in your textbook, summarize the information out loud in your own words.
- Discuss the material that you have been learning with a friend or study group.
- Tape your instructor's lecture,and if you are a commuter,listen to the tape on the way home,either in your car ,or on the bus or subway.
Kinesthetic learners:
- Use your hands.Cut up charts and diagrams. Create flash cards and move them around with large,sweeping movements.
- Walk and talk the information. Recite as you move.
- Type on a computer keyboard. You are using your muscle memory.

Every human being has its own purpose to achieve the goal and also the successful life.So as a successful student must have a goal setting.Goal setting vital to the quality and direction of our lives, determining where we’re going next and where we will end up further down the line .

MEMORY STRATEGY:
MEMORY STRATEGIES,WHY IT IS IMPORTANT ?
- Memory strategies will help student in their encoding,stroring and retrieving the information (help to remember and recall).Kenneth Higbee,"remembering is hard work and memory techniques do not necessarily make it easy.They just make it more effective"(Van Blerkom,2009,p.93).
HOW FORGETTING COULD OCCUR
- Did you pay attention to the information.
- Did not understand the information.
- Study last minute
- Did not have good strategies.
- Interference.
- Test anxiety.

HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR MEMORY
- Massed practice vs space practice
- Break reading material down (again no cramming) for some period af time.e.g. 2 chapters per day not all chapters a day before the exam
- Rehearsel-repeat the information many time e.g. repeat a telephone number 10 times
- Elaboration strategies:

-imagery-visualize the image of the information needed.

- Deal with internal distractions-deal with personal problems,deal with competing activities.
